Rep. Swalwell Drops Out of 2020 Presidential Race

July 8, 2019

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) announced Monday afternoon that he is officially ending his 2020 bid for president. "I promised my family, constituents, and supporters that I would always be honest about out chances. After the first Democratic presidential debate, our polling and fundraising numbers weren't what we had hoped for, and I no longer see a path forward to the nomination," said Swalwell in a press release. Although his presidential hopes are coming to an end for this election cycle, Swalwell says he plans to continue to fight gun violence from his positions on the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees.
