Reality TV stars June "Mama June" Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson return this week for the third season of the WEtv’s hit series "Mama June: From Not to Hot.”
Thompson, who jumped to viral fame as a funny, high-energy pageant girl, and her older sister, Lauryn Shannon, also known as Pumpkin, told Cheddar on Thursday that the family opens up more in the new season than they have in the past.
You’ll see us open “up about problems that we have in our homes that probably go on in homes around the world,” Shannon said. “You’ll see us hit certain financial problems, family problems, and things like that.”
The show follows "Mama June" and her efforts to lose weight, as well as her daughter Alana, who recently ended a stint on “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”
“I learned a lot and even though I didn't make it all the way through, I felt like I still came out on top,” the 13-year-old said of her time on the dance competition.
Thompson told viewers to expect another change in season three: she no longer wants to be known as "Honey Boo Boo."
“I’m not 'Honey Boo Boo;' I’m Alana,” she said.
The season premiere of "Mama June: From Not to Hot" airs Friday at 9:00 p m. ET.
